How to Clean Beryllium Copper

Copper beryllium is a strong and durable metal alloy. Because of its strength, nonsparking and nonmagnetic properties, the alloy is often used to make tools and fixtures for oil rigs where explosive vapors abound. Its characteristic spring and its copper beauty also make it an ideal material from which to make golf irons. According to the Copper Development Institute, copper beryllium is best cleaned with alkaline or organic solvent cleaners.

Instructions

1). Dilute the cleaner according to the manufacturer's instructions (if necessary).

2). Coat the surface of the beryllium copper with the cleaning solution.

3). Scrub any nooks and crannies clean of dirt and debris with an old toothbrush. Scrub flat surfaces with the toothbrush or a clean rag. Reapply the cleaner as necessary.

4). Rinse the cleaned surface with water.

5). Rub dry with a lint-free towel.
